Several top executives from The Shaw Group are heading up a newly created pipe fabrication company—Epic Piping—that this afternoon announced plans to invest $45.3 million to develop a manufacturing and production facility on a 70-acre site in Livingston Parish. New $45M pipe fabrication facility in Livingston Parish, Livingston Desperately Needs Taxes To Fund Parish

This is Good News and Livingston Parish DESPERATELY NEEDS Industry just like this to choose Livingston as their destination, especially because of the Interstate 10-12 Corridor access being so convenient. Livingston is a relatively Poor Parish and totally unlike East Baton Rouge, Ascension and West Baton Rouge, lacks industry taxes that fund these Parishes. Livingston lacks an industrial base, period, to fund the Parish. And, retail alone is not solving Livingston’s economic woes.

To illustrate the disparity and show how Livingston compares, the median sold price in 2014 in Livingston was only $158,500 versus $180,000 in EBRP, $200,045 in ASC and $193,900 in WBR.  That’s a HUGE DIFFERENCE.

ROADS NEED WORK – AND LACK OF WORK IS CAUSING HOMES TO LOSE VALUE!
I drive the roads and subdivision streets in Western Livingston Parish as a Home Appraiser and Livingston approved 100’s of new subdivisions from 1992 to 2006 and these subdivisions now need their roads repaved but the Parish doesn’t have the money.  South Point Subdivision is a prime example of crumbling roads on a 3 year plan to repave and these roads needed repaving 2 years ago. South Point home prices are lower than in the comparable and nearby Westminister Estates, Woodland Crossing and Livingston Trace Subdivisions.
